Silvano Dori è nato nel 1955 a Badia Tedalda (AR) ma da molti anni vive con la famiglia a Varese dove esercita la professione di tecnico cartonista. Si interessa di fotografia da più di trenta anni, tesserato FIAF e ANAF, ha partecipato a molti concorsi fotografici riportando parecchi successi. Il suo carattere creativo lo ha portato spesso a inventare situazioni umoristiche che ha ripreso principalmente in bianconero che sviluppa e stampa personalmente. Da vent'anni è iscritto al fotoclub di Castelletto Ticino (NO). Da alcuni mesi ha intensificato il suo lavoro  dedicandosi al digitale. I suoi lavori sono esposti in molti spazi web dedicati alla fotografia e, visto l’interessamento da parte di numerosi visitatori sta prendendo i seria considerazione l’ipotesi di costruire un proprio sito.
