Mauro Gambicorti nasce nel 1945 a Chianni, in Toscana. Inizia ad occuparsi di fotografia nel 1972, affiliandosi quasi subito al “3C – Cinefoto Club Cascina.” All’interno del Circolo, in poco tempo, affina le proprie cognizioni tecniche e compositive, divenendo un fotografo di punta del gruppo. Innamorato del paesaggio toscano, degli ambienti rurali, dell’anonimo vivere quotidiano, documenta con inedita partecipazione il mondo contadino scattando immagini che vengono apprezzate e premiate ovunque.
Nel 1978, a riconoscimento delle sue capacità realizzative, viene insignito dell’onorificenza di Afiap. (artista FIAP) dalla Federazione Internazionale d’arte fotografica
Negli anni che seguono, la sua passione per la montagna lo porta a documentare la transumanza dei greggi di pecore, un’antica tradizione che si svolge in Alto Adige, seguendo il cammino degli uomini e degli animali nelle loro migrazioni stagionali attraverso le alture italo-austriache.
Attualmente la sua ricerca documentaria e iconografica si è fatta più ampia e attuale, spaziando nel campo sociale, del reportage d’attualità, del racconto per sintesi d’immagine.
E’ impegnato in una qualificata e costante attività espositiva in numerose gallerie italiane; presenta anche le proprie immagini in proiezioni pubbliche presso associazioni fotografiche e istituzioni culturali. Collabora a corsi inerenti la fotografia, mettendo a disposizione la propria esperienza creativa.
