Le conchiglie sono i gusci calcarei di un folto gruppo ( oltre centomila ) di animali dal corpo molle chiamato molluschi. Sono loro stessi che costruiscono la propria “casa” per proteggersi dai predatori. I molluschi e conseguentemente le conchiglie vengono scientificamente suddivisi in bivalvi, cefalopodi, gasteropodi, scafopodi, anfineuri e monoplacofori. La famiglia piu numerosa del gruppo e quella dei gasteropodi ( circa ottantamila ). Ciascuna conchiglia viene normalmente classificata con tre nomi: il primo e quello del genere, il secondo della specie e il terzo dello scienziato che l’ha studiata e classificata per primo. E’ sempre crescente in tutto il mondo il numero di persone che colleziona questi magnifici esemplari della natura cercandoli personalmente o acquistandoli. Il loro mercato e molto vasto, si allestiscono mostre-mercato in molte citta di tantissimi paesi, ci sono raccoglitori e venditori, questi ultimi espongono e vendono (solo in dollari e a volte a caro prezzo ), ora anche in internet, le specie piu comuni e quelle piu pregiate. Queste pagine, che ho personalmente costruito e pubblicato sul web, non e che un succinto campionario delle migliaia di conchiglie marine e terrestri esistenti al mondo, creato per aiutare tutti coloro che le raccolgono e con tanto amore collezionano. Le immagini, alle quali ho cercato di dare un particolare aspetto fotografico, diverso comunque da quello che possa trovarsi nella letteratura e nei cataloghi, sono state da me create con gli esemplari della mia collezione.

The shells are the calcareous hulls of a thick group (over 100.000) of animals from the body soft called molluscs. The molluscs and consequently the shells are scientifically divided in bivalve, cefalopodi, gastropods, scafopodi, anfineuri and monoplacofori. The most numerous family of the group is that of the gastropods (around 80.000). Every shell is normally classified with three names: the first one is that of the kind, the second of the kind and the third one of the scientist that he has studied her and classified for first. And' always increasing all over the world the number of people that collects these magnificent samples of the nature personally looking for them or purchasing them. Their market is very vast, show-market they are prepared in a lot of cities of as countries, there are collectors and sellers, these last ones expose and they sell (only in dollars and at times to dear price), now also in internet, the kinds most common and those more you appreciate. These pages, that I have personally built and published on the web, is not that a short sample of the thousand of sea shells and existing earthlings to the world, created to help all those people who pick up her and with so much love they collect. The images, to which I have tried to give a particular photographic aspect, different however from what can be in the literature and in the catalogs, they have been from me you create with the samples of my collection.
