Fin da ragazzo l'incontro con gente e popoli diversi dalla mia cultura, mi ha sempre affascinato. Tutto cio' è rimasto confinato a giornali come Epoca, Gente Viaggi o a qualche buon libro di viaggi. L'opportunità di lavoro mi ha portato a poter coltivare il mio desiderio prima in Europa e successivamente in altre zone delle Americhe ed Asia. L'incontro con la fotografia avvenne grazie alla rivista National Geographic nel '89, un abbonamneto mi fu sottoscrtitto dal mio capo americano, i loro resoconti mi davano e mi preparavano ad un visita migliore dei luoghi, ma sopratuuto le foto pubblicate, in molti casi, da sole, raccontavano una storia. Nel ritorno da un viaggio in Cina, comprai la mia prima fotocamera. Sebbene costretto a passare al digitale mi considero ancora un purista e cio' si imparava sopratutto grazie all'uso della diapositiva. Per concludere sono "un malato d'Asia" dall' 82 ho visitato queste zone circa 16 volte, le prime con viaggi organizzati, dal 88 mi organizzo viaggi personalizzati (moglie ed il sottosctitto) con agenzie del posto.

Antonio Puppi was born in Turate Como in 1949-
Since his childhood he has been fascinated by people of different cultures but, for years, he could satisfy his curiosity only reading monthly magazines as Epoca, Gente Viaggi or good travel books. His job, later, offered him the opportunity to visit new places and meet new people, at first in Europe, and then in Northern and Southern America as well as in Asia. The discovery of photography happened in 1989 thanks to a subscription to National Geographic that he received from his American employer. The articles published helped him to better understand the places they were about, but the photos were often even more enlightening as they told vivid stories with no need of a text to go with them. It is enough to consider the photos by photographers like Steve McCurry, Jody Coob and others. Back from a trip to China, he bought his first camera. Though somehow forced to pass to the digital, he considers himself a purist, feels grateful for what he learned using film and slides. He loves travelling and suffers from "Nostalgia of Asia": since 1982 he has been to Asia 16 times either with organized tours or trips he himself organizes for himself and his wife.
