Elena Vasilieva è una dei più interessanti nuovi venuti dell'Arte fotohrafica Sovietica. Le sue fotografie di nudo esprimo dei setimenti quali desiderio, ansia, pianto, solitudine, il dolore e tormento. Dopo il suo studio al Kharkovski: l'università di Disegno, Elena scoprì il mondo della fotografia. Lei non è riuscita ad avere un'opportunità di lavorare nel campo del disegno al quale si era completamente dedicata L'arte della fotografia è divenuta poi il mestiere della sua vita.
«La Fotografia mi abilita per mostrare il mio umore e disegnare al mondo. Nel mio lavoro io tento di mostrare l'umore e l'emozione della sessualità di donna. Tutto quello che io mostro nelle mie fotografie sono esperimenti insieme coi miei modelli. Scoprire soggetti nuovi e mostrarli nel mio lavoro sono uno dei miei grandi interessi. Io non so se qualcuno riesca a capire la tensione ed i sentimenti che io tento di mostrare attraverso le mie fotografie e, così, io non mi curo delle opinioni dei critici che possono interpretare male il mio lavoro. La maggior parte del tempo io scelgo toni scuri per le mie fotografie, loro molto sono più vicini a me che luce e colori."

Elena Vasilieva is one of the most interesting newcomers of the Post-Soviet art scene. Her nude photos tell about longing, anxiousness, mourning, loneliness, pain and torment. After her study at the Kharkovski College of Design, Elena discovered the world of photography. She did not have a chance to work in the field of design as she completely dedicated herself to art of photography which has become her life's trade.
« Photography enables me to show my mood and style to the world. In my work I try to show the mood and the emotion of woman’s sexuality. Everything I show in my photos I experience together with my models. To discover new subjects and show them in my work is one of my great interests. I understand that not everyone can fathom the tension and feelings that I try to show through my photos and, thus, I do not care for the opinions of the critics who can misinterpret my work. Most of the time I choose dark tones for my photos – they are much closer to me than colorful sets."
