Roberto Zuccalà nasce a Roma sotto il segno dello “Scorpione”. Nel 1972 fonda a Roma il “Circolo Fotografico L'Immagine” (bfi-smf), struttura da lui stesso finanziata, attraverso la quale metterà in moto negli anni decine d'attività culturali. La Fiaf gli riconoscerà le onorificenze di BFI (Benemerito della Fotografia Italiana) nel 1985 e AFI (Artista Fotografo Italiano) nel 1989. Dal 1988, per otto anni, è stato Delegato Fiaf della Provincia di Roma; molte le attività promosse in questo fertile periodo: ricordiamo gli Incontri Italo-Francesi, La mostra Fiaf alla FotoKina di Colonia, i Calendari Collezione, i libri: Non solo Foto e Donna Tu. Si deve a lui il merito di aver proposto e avviato (dal 1984) nell’ambiente fiaf la nobile tradizione della Mail Art (arte postale), favorendo così il gli scambi e il collezionismo di preziose immagini nel formato cartolina. Con articoli e recensioni ha collaborato con molte delle riviste del settore, da ricordare in particolare la serie di Photographie Magazine. Dal 1987, come fotografo Free, collabora con l'Agenzia Le Clic di Roma. Negli ultimi anni, sempre più spesso autori affermati fanno ricorso alla penna di Roberto Zuccalà per la presentazione di libri fotografici o recensione di nuove mostre.Dal 1999 da vita come Art Director a diverse Liste fotografiche sui circuiti di rete, l’ultima -PhotoMeeting – fa circolare migliaia di fotografie all’anno di tutti gli autori che intendono partecipare. E’ questo un mezzo di diffusione senza pari. Nel 2005 fonda il “MailArt Photo Club”, attraverso il quale rida vitalità all’attività delle fotocartoline ed ancora nel 2005, attraverso il Circolo L’Immagine, da vita ai “meetings of portfolio”, attività di incontri culturali.

Roberto Zuccalà is born in Rome under the sign of the “Scorpio”. In 1972 he establishes and finances in Rome the photographic club, “L’Immagine” (The image). In 1985, the Italian Association of Photographic Clubs, FIAF, bestows on him the honor of BFI (Benemerito of the Italian Photo) and in 1989 the AFI (Artista Fotografo Italiano) in 1989. In 1988  Roberto Zuccalà waselected Delegate of Fiaf for the Province in Rome. While a regional delegate, he promoted a number of  photographic activities such as the Italo-French Photo Meetings, The FIAF show during the FotoKina of Koln, the Calendars Collection and the  photographic books, Not only Photo and Donna Tu.  He proposed and then set in motion within FIAF the noble tradition of the Mail Art (postal art), favoring the exchanges and the collection of precious images in the postcard format.  He has collaborated with a lot of the photo magazines writing articles and critiques, particularly in the Photographie Magazine. From 1987, as a free lance photographer, he collaborates with the agency Click in Rome.  In the last years, more and more affirmed authors often resort to his pen for the presentation of photographic books or critique of new shows. Since 1999 as Art Director to different photographic Lists on the Internet, the last one being - PhotoMeeting- he creates the means to  circulate among the members thousands of photos a year in an unparallel means of image diffusion.  In 2005 creates the “MailArt Photo Club”, and which resurrects the vitality of the activity of the photo-postcards. In 2005 also, through the photo club “L’ Immagine”, he gives life to the “portfolio review meetings”, as a means of cultural meetings with the various photographers.
